Description

Etching by George Sala taken from the 'Great Exhibition 'Wot is to Be', a satirical look at the forthcoming Great Exhibition of 1851. The band of the Royal Life Guards is depicted being 'conducted of course by the most eminent instrumentalist of the day' and is accompanies 'by a body of exhibitors who will blow their own trumpets and endeavour to play first fiddle in a suprising manner'. The bottom of the image shows the choir of St Paul's and the chrous of Her Majesty's Theatre.
