Photograph showing the diamond ring effect at the second stage of a total solar eclipse in which the moon moves in front of the sun and blocks off its light. Observed from the Altiplano in Peru, a mountain plateau approximately 4000 metres in height, in the early morning (8h 17m local time) of 3 November 1994. Taken with a small reflecting telescope (focal length: 500 mm, f4.5) with a mylar filter.
