Description

Exterior of Queen Adelaide's saloon in the National Railway Museum, 1997. The saloon was built in 1840 by the London and Birmingham Railway. At this early period in railway history its construction shows the influence of the stage coach on the new industry, as in the early 1840s stage coaches were still popularly used to travel long distances.
