Grey cast iron - hyper eutectic. Typical analysis 4.2% carbon - 2.1% silicon. Micrograph in the as- polished condition reveals the larger kish graphite and the finer austenite/graphite eutectic. When etched in nital or picral the white matrix would be revealed as fine pearlite. Light micrograph in bright field. Magnification 100x.
