Description

This contemporary photograph shows the first fully electronic stored-program computer in operation. It was built by Professor Max Newman at Manchester University and was so successful that the company Ferranti Ltd was commissioned by the British goverment to manufacture the design and sold eight Mark I computers in a few years.
