Description

Captain Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912), better known as Scott of the Antarctic, was found dead with two companions, Dr Wilson and Lieutenant Bowers, in February 1913, following their attempted return from the South Pole. The two others members of Scott's Antarctic expedition party, Petty Officer Evans and Captain Oates, had died some days before Scott, Wilson and Bowers. These three were just 11 miles away from a food depot which may have saved them, but a blizzard trapped them in their tent with almost no fuel or food.
