Description

Sir Joseph Wilson Swan (1828-1914) was an English physicist and chemist. In 1860 he invented an electric lamp which anticipated that of Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) by twenty years. In 1897 he demonstrated a lamp which considerably improved on Edison's patent model.
