Description

Plate taken from his book 'Astronomiae Instauratae Mechanicae', published in 1602. Brahe (1546-1601) was a pre-telescope astronomer who, at his Uraniborg ('Castle of the Heavens') Observatory on the Danish island of Hven, (now in Sweden), measured the positions of 777 stars, creating a catalogue of such accuracy that it provided a vital source of information to later astronomers.
