Electromagnet and rotating copper disc, with brush, for demonstrating induced currents, 1889. Made by Harvey and Peak, this model demonstrates one of the experiments into electromagnetic induction performed in 1831 by the pioneering English chemist and physicist Michael Faraday (1791-1867). Electromagnetic induction is the use of magnets to produce electric current.
