Poster produced for the Great Western Railway (GWR) and London, Midlands & Scottish Railway (LMS) to promote rail travel to Bristol. The poster shows a view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge near Bristol in Avon. The bridge was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859) and was completed in 1864. Artwork by Claude Buckle (1905-1973), who originally trained as an architect but turned to fine art in 1928. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was a prolific poster artist for GWR as well as BR. Much of his original poster artwork is held at the National Railway Museum.
