Poster produced for North Eastern Railway (NER) to promote rail travel to Teesdale, Yorkshire. The poster shows a magnificent waterfall over some rocks in a beautiful moorland setting, framed by trees. Four lines of verse by Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) appear below: 'Where Tees in tumult leaves his Source / Thundering o'er Caldron and High Force'. Artwork by Frank Henry Mason (1876-1985) who spent time at sea and painted marine and coastal subjects. In addition to designing railway posters, he was also involved in engineering and shipbuilding.
