Macmillan and Khrushchev in the Kremlin, signing their final communique, before Macmillan returned by Comet aeroplane to Britain. Maurice Harold Macmillan, 1st earl of Stockton, was British prime minister 1957-1963. Nikita Khrushchev was premier of the USSR between 1958 and 1964, and first secretary of the Communist party (1953-1964).
