Photogravure after a photograph by Bassano Studio, from 'England's Beautiful Women'. Winnaretta Singer, Princesse de Polignac (1865-1943) was a musician, patron of the arts, and lesbian. A millionaire at the age of 18, she was heiress to the Singer sewing machine empire. Her mother, Isabelle Eugenie Boyer Summerville, was the second wife of Winnaretta's father, Isaac Merritt Singer, founder of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
