'What's this - Mr Khrushchev with a GLASS in his hand? Six short months ago he was fulminating against 'drunkards, thieves and swindlers in Russian society'. And to set a good example he started drinking mineral waters. Now, apparently, he is off the wagon. But he can plead with some cause the betterment of Soviet-American relations. For he is pictured meeting in Moscow some of the stars of an American ice-show. On the left, Deputy Premier Mikoyan lends support to his chief.' Khrushchev (1894-1971) was premier of the USSR between 1958 and 1964, and first secretary of the Communist party (1953-1964).
