'Enthusiasts must master the lingo too - or run the risk of losing their marbles. In Liverpool, you'll be playing "Ollies", or stoneys, while for Scots its "bools", "jorries" - or even "balls". Some parts of the North and Midlands set to for a game of "alleys" or "merps". But in the more sedate South East it's just marbles or hollies. Here are some useful terms: Dobber - big marbles knocked out by Tolleys. Dobber beauts - large colourful collectors' marbles. Then there are smaller crystals (or tolleys), red kings, blue knights, and many more'.
