The unveiling ceremony of 'Evening Star', class 9F 2-10-0 locomotive number 92220, in 1960. Evening Star was the last main line steam locomotive to be manufactured in Britain and as a result it attracted a lot of publicity. Hundreds of workers, reporters and guests went to the Swindon locomotive works to see the unveiling. The name Evening Star was chosen through a competition among British Railways Western Region staff. Evening Star is now part of the National Railway Museum's collection.
