Description

Photograph of Guernica, 'capital of the Basque country, after it was devastated by the most appalling air raid in the Spanish Civil war. Hundreds of civilians in the town for a 'Feast Day' were killed in three and a half hours continuous bombing, by what is reported to be, German aeroplanes. The Insurgents are now continuing their advance on Bilbao.' Extract taken form the Daily Herald archive.
