McEnroe (born 1959) with tennis trophy, possibly the US Open. McEnroe won three singles titles at Wimbledon and four at the US Open. Throughout his career he became well known for his volatile temper and verbal outburst particularly the phrase "you cannot be serious". He is also remembered for the 1980 Wimbledon final against Bjorn Borg and the fourth set tie braker he won 18-16. McEnroe was the world number one for four straight years from 1981-1984 and spent a total of 170 weeks at the top of the rankings. After retiring from the tour he took over as Davis Cup captain and plays on the senior tour. He is also well known as a TV commentator.
