Studio portrait photograph by Maull and Polyblank of British politician John Roebuck (1801-1879). Henry Maull and Joseph Polyblank founded their photography studio in 1854, specialising in portraits of well-known individuals of the time. Much of their photographic work was used to produce engravings for the 'Illustrated London News', and forty of their most celebrated portaits were published as 'Photographic Portraits of Living Celebrities' (1856-1859). Maull went on to form Maull & Co in 1866 and Maull & Fox in 1879.
