Photograph by Tony Ray-Jones (1941-1972) taken for the Sunday Times Magazine. Happy Extremists was researched and illustrated by Tony Ray Jones. An ex-army man, Snowy Farr was awarded an MBE in 1995 for his tireless fundraising activities for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Farr wandered the streets of Cambridge accompanied by his menagerie of birds and animals, which included doves, rabbits, cats and white mice - the latter running round the brim of his hat.
