The Express Dairy company provided milk that was brought from farms into towns by train. Before the 1850s there was suspicion about "Railway Milk", which was seen as infected and adulterated, but by 1900 milk was carried in cleaner, more hygienic containers. The Express Dairy company was a leader in working with railway companies to improve the speed and quality of milk delivey from the country to towns.
