Locomotives around the turntable in York motive power depot, by Eric Treacy, about 1950. The photograph shows, amongst others, a B16 class 4-6-0 locomotive number 61449 and an A2 class 4-6-2 locomotive number 60532 'Blue Peter'. Turntables were used to transfer locomotives between tracks. They were used in engine sheds, stations and junctions. York depot now houses the National Railway Museum.
