Ribblehead Viaduct, North Yorkshire, by Chris Hogg, 1994. This viaduct, on the 72 mile long Settle to Carlisle line, was opened in 1876. Navvies working on the construction of the viaduct lived on this site for six years. The stonework had deteriorated badly by the 1980s, due to erosion caused by wind and rain, so restoration work was carried out to ensure that the structure was safe.
