Mouth of the Channel Tunnel, at Shakespeare Cliff, Dover, by Chris Hogg, 1993. This photograph was taken as the tunnel was being built. The tunnel took 7 years to build and finally opened in 1995. It cost £2,700 million to build. It created a rail link between London and Brussels and Paris, and connections to many other European cities.
