Train at the mouth of the Channel Tunnel at Shakespeare Cliff, Dover, by Chris Hogg, 1993. This photograph was taken as the tunnel was being built. During the construction of the tunnel, many trains ran in and out of the tunnel, bringing spoil, workers and equipment in and out of the tunnel. The tunnel took 7 years to build and finally opened in 1995. It cost £2,700 million to build.
