Platform 4 at York station, by Chris Hogg, 13 June 1988. The station is being refurbished and the layout changed. Part of the track has been dug up. York station was rebuilt as a through station in the 1870s as the existing building, built in 1841 inside the city's walls, had been too small, and many accidents had occurred. The station was designed by G T Andrews.
