Roof of York station, by Chris Hogg, 1993. At this time the station had just been refurbished. York station was rebuilt as a through station in the 1870s as the existing building, built in 1841 inside the city's walls, had been too small, and many accidents had occurred. The station was designed by G T Andrews.
