Forecourt in York station, by Chris Hogg, June 1987. At this time the station was about to be refurbished and the layout changed. However, the station has not changed much since it was built. York station was rebuilt as a through station in the 1870s as the existing building, built in 1841 inside the city's walls, had been too small, and many accidents had occurred. The station was designed by G T Andrews.
