Workers carrying out construction work on Durham Viaduct, by Chris Hogg, 12 March 1989. The workers are making holes in the parapet for electric masts. Durham is on the East Coast main line which connects London and Edinburgh. It is one of the main routes from London to Scotland. Major repairs to main lines have to take place in the middle of the night or on Sundays when there is less traffic, to cause minimum disruption to passengers.
