Outside Paddington Station's Great Western Railway Hotel, by Chris Hogg, 1996. The hotel was built in 1854 and was one of the first large hotels in London. Station hotels first opened for passengers who needed to break their journeys. They were also used by business travellers and passengers whose trains left very early in the morning or who had to change trains.
