Staff in a greenhouse at Poppleton Nursery, York, by Chris Hogg, 1995. Poppleton Nursery was run by British Railways. They provided plants for stations on the East Coast Main Line. The nursery had a 2-foot gauge railway, which is used to move goods around the site. The nursery closed down shortly after this photograph was taken, when the British railways were privatised.
