Docklands Light Railway train on a bridge over the river Thames, by Chris Hogg, 1993. The Docklands Light Railway opened in 1987, to link North and South London. The driverless trains run from Tower Gateway to Island Gardens, and from Poplar to Stratford. At this time the Docklands were being redeveloped and a comprehensive transport system was needed.
