Montrose Basin Viaduct, Angus, by Lynn Patrick. This viaduct was opened in 1881. However, it was not heavily used until 2 years later. The Tay Bridge was being rebuilt at this time, following its collapse in 1879 and there was little traffic coming from the South. The original viaduct was designed by Thomas Bouch, who had designed the Tay Bridge. However, before it opened, it was found to be too weak, and the bridge was rebuilt.
