Kenya & Uganda Railway Class EC1 4-8-2+2-8-4 locomotive number 72 'Kiamba'. The locomotive was built in Manchester by Beyer, Peacock Ltd. The articulated engine was built to a design patented by Herbert W Garratt, with fuel and water tanks mounted on separate bogies. Garratt locomotives were particularly suited to working in regions where fuel was scarce and gradients steep. They were widely used in Africa.
