Description

Queen Victoria's 1869 saloon, as photographed in about 1895. The carriage was very comfortable and luxurious. The Queen had day and night rooms within the saloon. There has been a royal train since the coming of the railways, and Queen Victoria preferred to travel by train, finding it more comfortable than a stage coach. However, she did not like travelling at more than 40 miles per hour.
