The railway staff in this town stopped work to take part in a two-minute silence, to remember the soldiers who died during the First World War. Indian soldiers had fought in the Persian Gulf and in France. The Railway companies wanted to commemorate the end of the war, to remember their workers who had been killed or injured in action.
