Railway officers at the Headquarters of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway in Bombay, (now Mumbai). The photograph was taken at the departure of E Fraser, who was the Chief Mechanical Engineer for the railway company. The Great Indian Peninsula Railway was opened in 1853, from Bombay to Thane, in Western India. The company expanded quickly, and by 1870 the line stretched all the way to Calcutta.
