Liverpool to Hull train at Liverpool Exchange Station. At this time Liverpool was the largest port in Britain and the main port serving North America. Trains ran from all over the country bringing passengers and freight to Liverpool. Hull served many ports in North Western Europe. Passengers wishing to travel from Europe to America often travelled via Liverpool because it was quicker than travelling from their own country.
