The approach to Blackpool station, May 1921. Blackpool had been a very popular destination for a holiday or day trip since the 18th century and the coming of the railways helped the town to expand and cater for more tourists. People came to visit the pleasure beach and Blackpool tower, take a walk along the promenade and see the illuminations.
