A class 4-4-0 steam locomotive number 1229 at Blackpool station, Lancashire, 1913. This was one of the locomotives which carried King George V and Queen Mary to the north west of England, as part of their official tour. The King and Queen visited several towns and Horwich and Crewe railway works. The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, like other railway companies, had carriages especially for use by the Royal family. They had a dining room and day and night saloons.
