0-4-0 Locomotive at Horwich works, Lancashire, about 1905. This small locomotive was used in the works to move equipment and parts around the workshops and buildings on the site. It is on a narrow gauge railway track, and is pulling small wagons behind it. Horwich works owned 8 of these small locomotives altogether. Horwich works opened in 1886 as the locomotive works for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. This Railway Works mainly built and repaired locomotives, but they also made telegraph and signalling equipment.
