Great Northern Railway 4-2-2 locomotive number 644, 1870. The Great Northern Railway opened in 1852, and ran between King's Cross station in London, and Doncaster. It was soon extended north to York and Newcastle, and also served stations in Nottingham and Lincolnshire. This locomotive was probably made at Doncaster works, which opened in 1853.
