Freight train carrying stone at Stansted goods yard. Workers can be seen unloading the stone to a lorry, through the use of a crane. Heavy loads were usually carried by rail at this time, although railway freight services were losing customers as they were in close competition with road vehicles. However, improved freight services in the 1960s meant that more profit was being made from freight trains.
