Description

The Great Western Railway 'Blue Funnel Special' leaving Paddington. This train took passengers to Southampton harbour, connecting with a ferry cruise around the Solent and to the Isle of Wight. It was a popular day trip for people wanting to have an excursion away from London. From an archive of about 400,000 photographic negatives from various British Railways and constituent companies' photographic collections, formerly known as the OPC (Oxford Publishing Company) Collection.
