This photograph was one of a series taken to advertise holidays at locations served by the Great Western Railway's lines. Photographs like this were often displayed inside railway carriages. Bath had always been a popular place for people to visit, as the waters were thought to have healing qualities. With the coming of the railways Bath became a more popular place for a day trip. There was lots to see and do including visiting the abbey, Roman baths and several museums.
