Track layers, 1969

Workers relaying track at Warrington, 2 March 1969. Track was easier to repair by the 1960s than it had been previously due to having machines to lift and realign track. Track laying is now done by large groups of workers who covered a large area of the line, rather than by small teams who looked after a short section.
