A photograph of Twiggy, real name Lesley Hornby (1949-), outside Studio X in Chelsea, London, taken by Steel for the Daily Herald newspaper on 2 November, 1966. Recently discovered and signed to Top Models Agency, Twiggy was going to the studio to have a cast of her figure made by sculptor John Taylor. This cast would then be turned into a mould for mannequins - to feature in shops all over the country. Twiggy was discovered in a hairdreser's in 1966, when she was sixteen. The world's first supermodel, Twiggy's face and naturally waif-like figure epitomised the era.
