A photograph of a Kenyan Asian migrant arriving through customs at Heathrow Airport, from an early morning flight, carrying his suitcase and bedding, taken by Wilson for the Daily Herald newspaper on 12 February, 1968. A 'No entry' sign is visible above the man's head. In 1968 a Commonwealth Immigrants Bill was put before Parliament and quickly passed. This Act included restriction of entry for British passport-holding Kenyan Asians. Auberon Waugh, writing in The Spectator, described the measures as 'immoral'. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
