Description

Photograph taken at the inauguration of the cobalt unit at Bristol Infirmary. The machine being operated is a Cibalt 60 radiotheraphy machine with variable source to skin distance, originally rated at 400 curies, but later uprated to a nominal 1000 curies, made at Cambridge University Workshops (1953-1954) and used at Bristol General Hospital (1955-1984).
