Description

Reconstructed Cayley man carrier of 1853 seen in towed flight in 1973. Anglia TV produced and filmed the replica which was flown by Derek Piggott. Sir George Cayley, 1773-1857, the 'father of aeronautics' was a pioneer of early flight particularly between 1799 and 1808 and between 1842 and 1853 when his coachman was flown across the valley at Brompton Dale, Yorkshire.
